I remember there's a number of Dirts who like me dug their last lp 'Take them on, on your own' and i caught them play one of their first gigs since they got back with their drummer a few months ago. Needless to say their still an excellent live band but the new stuff they played for the encore shows an evolution in their sound with acoustic guitars replacing the walls of sound of their first two lp's.
It's got a lot of country, and blues influences in it but its still very much rock n roll. for a listen go to

anyway i'm very much looking forward to the album howl next week as their first two are still regular players in my car.
on the subject of acoustic guitar a friend lent me a copy of Nine Black Alps' lp 'everything is' after we caught them play a stunning show @ glasto. Must say i enjoyed it, some excellent nirvana influenced riffs which shows a lot of promise for the future. Anyway track 11 intermission the acoustic one blew me away with its power and directness, really gets me i must say. the other stand out is 'unsatisfied' for the interplay between the two guitarists
