I'm not a Berliner but I know the city fairly well. I don't think there are any bars near the venue, so maybe meeting in the centre (somewhere near Hackescher Markt?) is an idea, then metro/taxi it to the venue.
BTW, it's a bit late notice but if anyone needs a place to stay in Berlin, I've got a spare airbed at the flat I'm staying in. Will exchange for beer
