Re: 2007 End of Year Praise and Thanks to Underworld and the entire crew
I'd like to add that 2007 has been the best year to get new fans into Underworld since '99. I've lost count of how many friends I've converted this year, and I couldn't have done so without all the great material available, especially all the live stuff like webcasts and this new jam, because it's a way for those of us (especially in the USA) who can't be there to experience the music together even though we're all at work or school or home. My friends and actually had a few weeks during which we'd listen to a "new" UW show every Monday and discuss it over IM -- PLEASE RELEASE THE REST OF MOSCOW!
Really, all the official live material available for free and for purchase is a dream come true for a fan of this band, and I'm so glad it's happened after all this time.
Hopes for 2008:
- New music, of course
- More jams, webcasts, etc
- NIN-style remix/interactivity apparatus
- More Pearls Girl-style EPs and other such physical releases collecting b-sides and remixes, as those things were KEY to getting me and many others into UW in the '90s. The convenience of such products cannot be understated, even in 2008.
- A one-off, stripped down "chill" or "semi-acoustic" record/performance a la NIN's Still, perhaps also made available as part of a ltd edition or download purchase.
- Underworld remixing and/or collaborating with other artists of their caliber. Film scores are great but you know what I mean.
- CD-quality archive of "lost" tracks such as "Eclipse" and "Minneapolis," etc., just for posterity's sake.
