Re: kode 9 + spaceape - memories of the future
in brief; i like this disc in my iPod when a song pops up on random. it's basically Tricky - Maxinquay for today's scene. i'd much prefer it if Spaceape wasn't on every track. he has exactly 1 delivery style and it gets very boring, both lyrically and stylistically, after about 5 minutes. i have heard the complete album about 3 times straight through since that's usually how i give LPs a chance. kode 9 is great as a producer but he doesn't need some ignorant mc rambling pseudo dread-filled verses to make the music interesting. it's not half as interesting as the Burial LP and nowhere near as diverese as Boxcutter. Spaceape is talentless and should worship Kode 9 for the rest of his life for giving him this exposure he so obviously does not deserve.
it's mixtape material, but not suitable for a complete listen. at least not to anyone who requires their vocals to have some meaning.
