Sorry to shit on your personal taste and all, but that is 1 of his worst efforts aside from Yukiko.
The dividing line on good Tricky and bad Tricky has only to do with one thing: Martina Topley Bird. OK, well it might also have to do with his recovery from candida, but let's go with Martina. Her voice is so amazing, and I think they have some of the best musical chemistry ever - proved by their reunion tracks on her solo album - just picking up right where they left off.
After they stopped working together, he got much less interesting and the production so less adventurous.
2nd the motion on Poems. That is such an amazing track, and Martina's vocal crushes me. Video is great too with Terry Hall getting punched in the face over and over (easter egg on the DVD).
So yeah, candida + weed + Martina + Tricky = brilliance.
