I think people were thinking of a new album the day after AHDO was released (or maybe even when the release date for AHDO was announced). People are still talking about a new My Bloody Valentine album and it's been 14 years since
Loveless. If I said I wanted something to be on "the" album, it would just be whatever new album comes out, no matter how long it actually takes.
Air Towel and Puppies were being played live in 1994, one ended up on an album, the other as on an ep, but it still took 2 years for these songs to be released. I think anything they have has a potential to be on some kind of cd release in the future.
So yeah "album" as in "a potential cd that might or might not be released sometime in my lifetime"
