i'll maintain that "Lovely Broken Thing" works best swallowed whole...there are ups and downs, ebbs and flows, but it points to a new style of music-creation for Underworld. In the past, we've gotten the concise albums with some danceclub hits or some one-off ambient pieces as B-sides or archive exclusives. Here we get a unified snapshot of what they're capable of.
For me, the best parts are "Billy Goat", "Peggy Sussed", "JAL to Tokyo" and "Lenne Penne"...the quieter bits between make the louder bits all the more powerful, imho.
p.s. if "Monkey Wink" had some beats added, it could give "Moaner" a run for its money!
