Re: Salon Boris
Salon Boris ‘Bride of Boris’ (Udiscs). If we didn’t know better we’d say this was the secret love child of John Foxx’s ‘Underpass’ and FR David’s 80’s global poptastic smash - hit ‘Words’. ‘Bride of Boris’ is the second release by boy / girl / boy trio Salon Boris following their well-received debut of last year entitled ‘Freakshow’. Undeniably possessing an early 80’s minimalist new romantic / factor 7 / Berlin club scene makeover, Tatyana’s vocals set to a lonely hearts theme give off the seductive allure of an Eastern European Grace Jones while below the chic multilingual pop vibe anaesthetising your psyche could be the coolest thing since Visage’s ‘Fade to Grey’ though on this occasion tapped up by the fuzzy acid enhanced theme tune from 70’s TV Rhubarb and Custard. Infectious stuff that’ll no doubt shag your hi-fi to the point of breakdown. Flipside features ‘Everybody’s talking about retro’ which is like er….retro (for want of a better word). Wig flipping psychedelic tinged space groove that’ll flatten the club fraternity once in earshot, so dirty you’ll never come out of the shower, with it’s futuro Android Kraftwerk robotised funk grind and infectiously gritty rock undercurrent – this motorik monster will drive you to distraction. www.salonboris.com
