this project is another Underworld retrospective.

it’s origins came from the original dirty.org forums,
which are now born dirty forums.

it was started around 2011, but finally kicked off
in late 2013. mattval1, who is the premiere fan of
underworld mailed me 3 discs with many of the tracks,
and included many of the key promo, and rare tracks
on it. he was the sole source of the original
‘confusion the waitress(remix)’, which was on vinyl
acetate only, and prior to that only existed as an
edit on a mix cd. this compilation would be lacking
a lot of material if it wasn’t for his efforts.

several early listings started the discussion,
and have been finalized, which allowed the project
to progress.

also having access to all the original vinyl, and
cd in one place after a decade of storage was very
useful.

why why why?

there have been two official anthology releases
from underworld. the first in 2003, was a good
2cd collection of a lot of their tracks, and
spanned a good era (1992-2002). of course it had a lot of
restrictions due to the format. even on vinyl
a lot of tracks were left off.

in 2012, 9 years later, another 2cd/3cd and digital
expanded release would come out, offering a lot
better tracklistings. but still falling quite short.

along with a ‘collection’, that had quite a few singles,
and edits, and collaborations on it, that was a good
supplement also.

however, sadly, a large majority of the early tracks,
vinyl and promo have still never been available to this
day. this anthology 2 aims to rectify the situation.

dirty epic

covering the same eras from 1992-2013, and paying particular
attention to all the unreleased tracks, vinyl, compilation
and promo only tracks. this should fill the gaps in many
compilations that were previously missing them.

also, the tracks are taken from the highest quality sources,
and remastered in all cases, even when the source is cd.
we have checked multiple sources, and previewed each track
through headphones and speakers for quality checks, and
with multiple people to ensure consistency.

to dream of love

we know underworld would love for their music to be heard,
and would be pleased in the care and attention to the detail.
just as they’ve evolved and put out such thought provoking and
distinctive sounding music, so should a package bring that feeling
also.

we hope you enjoy the sounds of underworld, from their early
beginnings to the mature sound that they have now.
