I was a bit confused to what they were trying to do there as well. It seems like they were trying to replace Electric Cafe with Techno Pop, what was supposed to be the 'original' version of that album before Hutter's bike crash sidelined it. I was pretty excited for that because Bartos had hinted that there were completed versions of Techno Pop around, which IIRC would have included "Tour de France" on it. Releasing the album this way with "House Phone" implies that the track was around before the single and was originally intended to be on the album. All things considered I don't think it's a big deal...the second half of "Call" was all jamming anyway, wasn't it?

ok, so i'm listening to the 'new' version of technopop with
telephone call split up.. i guess i was so used to the original
version of the song, it still seems 'wrong'... but as far as their
concepts go.. yes, they usually split songs into parts, like
they did with 'trans europe express', and 'computerworld'..
so i can see why they wanted to split the track..
