Re: software advice
found some better instructions for audacity:
The easiest way is to uncompress your mp3 to a WAV, then split the WAV into the different tracks, then burn the tracks as an audio CD in Disk at once mode (i.e. "without gaps").
* To split your file, use an audio editor. Audacity is an open source (and thus free in the true sense) application that can read your mp3. Here are really stepwise instructions
(1) Start Audacity
(2) Project - Import Audio, locate your mp3. Audacity will open it.
(3) If you want to end up REALLY gaples, the next is very important: View - Set selection format - cdda min:sec: frames. This will make sure that your selections "snap" precisely to CD frame bounderies. Otherwise, a small audible click may still result.
(4) Highlight your first track, press Ctrl+X (or select Edit-Cut) to cut the selection to the clipboard.
(5) File - New; Edit - Paste will paste your selection into a new file ("project"). yes, this works just like copy-paste in a word processor.
(6) File - Export as wav, name this file for example track01
(7) Repeat (4) to (6) for all tracks
Now burn the tracks using CDBurner XP Pro or any other burning software of your liking as an Audio CD.
I'll give that a go.
Does anyone know if I can change my username? Fancy a change.
