Good to see this happening again. This might work well into a column for some of the street press I write for. A rich community like this yielding a "project" outcome year after year. It's great to see/hear. I remember Leo asking me to finish a
Segue tune of ours in previous years, but never got around to it. The track we had in mind ended up getting released as a single anyway, so this at least got us in the right direction.
In terms of technicalities of file transfer, as mentioned Dropbox is a great resource. I've been working on a collaborative project, under the obvious enough name of Vitreous & Segue. Vitreous lives in Amsterdam, and I live in Brisbane, Australia. We tested various ways to transfer files and the best way would be using the same project file synchronised on our hard drives via Dropbox. Having said that, we tend to just render stems and use
Drop.io to transfer. We upload rough mixes to Soundcloud under Private Mode, which lets us leave comments all over them, and the final mixes are put on for the record label there also.
All that, and I neglect my own FTP server. Some of this social media stuff is actually more useful than a simple FTP, but there's always that as well. Anyway, hope to hear some Dirty tunes soon!
