I heard someone on the radio refer to it as "imaginary money".
In other words I am a lot "poorer" this year than I was last year because about £30k at least has been wiped off the value of my house. If I had sold the house last year and hidden the money under my bed, it would have been real money, but cos I haven't it is only imaginary.
