Comsat Angels and Wire get reissued

So apparently, the early albums by the Comsat Angels, out of print for lo these many years, are getting reissued with all the usual bonus tracks and stuff like that. At the same time, the first three...

Re: Mother Earth (FM Mix)

The song is about two minutes shorter, because all the parts with the sampled voices were cut (like the one about the "spirit of the world"), and instead of the upbeat electronic intro that plays...

Re: what UW song should i play at a college semi-formal?!?

Yeah, "Jumbo" would probably go over better than anything else. You could also try "Cups," because it starts out nice and easy but then the kids can jump around a little at the end.

"MMM...

Re: The Super Survivor: Dirty Epic vs. Juanita : Kiteless : To Dream Of Love

I totally agree. However, in my opinion, the last 10 minutes are a letdown after such a great introduction. "Dirty Epic," on the other hand, is consistently amazing for all ten minutes.

Re: The Super Survivor: Dirty Epic vs. Juanita : Kiteless : To Dream Of Love

"Dirty Epic" should be the big winner, I think. "Juanita" has a great opening, but it's not the same; it just doesn't have the same emotional content, for me. That early period, from 1992 to 1994, is...

Re: Cool that UW digs NIN and vice versa!

Yeah, in the archives of the "access" section, somebody asked him about the best concerts he's ever been to, and he named Underworld among them.

Re: Battle Of Survivors Round One

Or we could have a run-off vote between "Cups" and "Luetin."

Re: Lyrics - Why Now...?

Really? Ah, damn, I kinda liked "war machine" more. I mean, he just yells it so forcefully that it would make more sense.

Yeah, maybe we should stop after the grand finale.

Re: Born Slippy, but which one?

Yeah, the version of "Born Slippy NUXX" that's on Everything, Everything should be on here, as it is an official release in a sense. I always thought that was the best one, although the original...

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 5

I'm kind of conflicted on "Dinosaur Adventure 3D." Sure, the music is not so inventive, in my opinion (I've often commented on how it rips off the hook from "Dark Train"), but the vocals are amazing....

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 3

I'm talking about the four-note line that opens "Dark Train" and the four-note line that opens "Dinosaur Adventure 3D." You don't see a similarity?

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 3

Well, that and the main keyboard hook of "Dinosaur Adventure 3D" is an exact copy of the one in "Dark Train."

Relaxing music, eh? All right, I'll give it a shot.

Underworld - "Dark & Long" (7:35)
Mr. Fingers - "Can You Feel It" (5:56)
Orbital - "Monday" (7:07)
Massive Attack - "Blue Lines" (4:21)...

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 3

Gah, I love "Ballet Lane." One of my favourite rainy-day songs, that one. But I know I'm in the minority; hell, I like "Trim" and "Ess Gee" as well. I'll still be voting for "Little Speaker" until it...

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1

Well, actually, I said it was there to provide some variation and contrast in the mood of the album right before "Dinosaur Adventure 3D." That's a perfectly good reason to put something on an album....

Re: Am i the only person who absolutely loves Ess Gee?

Ah, come on. You can't really make the same thing by randomly plucking on your guitar, there'd be no harmony. "Ess Gee" really does sound pretty.

Re: Am i the only person who absolutely loves Ess Gee?

In my opinion, when they started out they were doing a very creative and original combination of "banging dance floor friendly sounds" and more melodic styles, as opposed to only doing one or the...

Re: Am i the only person who absolutely loves Ess Gee?

Yeah, count me in. I can't say it's my favourite Underworld song or anything, but I always enjoy it when I listen to the album. I find it much, much better and more effective than "Twist," "Sola...

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1

I can't agree with that reasoning. Two of the three other albums have nine tracks or fewer, and A Hundred Days Off is shorter than any of the other three albums by at least ten minutes with or...

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1

I don't know, it seems unlikely to me that a two-minute track would kill a sixty-minute album. Especially since it really is a pretty-sounding track. "Little Speaker" drags much, much more, and never...

Re: A Hundred Days Off Survivor Round 1

I quite agree. I know "Ess Gee" and "Trim" aren't popular, but I think there's a case to be made for both of them. "Ess Gee" in particular is great for what it is - a short little instrumental...

Re: Pink Floyd question

Ah, I like The Wall. From what I've observed, people who don't like that album generally don't like it because of all the narcissistic rock star angst. I agree with them on that point, but I would...
