Re: Drift Ep. 1, Part 3 - Low Between Zebras

I agree that it's unlikely we'll be getting a standard CD / LP type album affair, but the fact these are all being release as Episode 1, Part X is interesting (given that the tracks don't seem to...

Re: Underworld Electronica contemporaries

Works with FSOL quite a bit these days too. Was never a big breaks fan, but the Propellerheads album was pretty great.

Re: Underworld Electronica contemporaries

Ah yeah, their debut still gets the occasional spin around here. Fit into that same progressive house / trance sound as Chicane's debut and ESCM by BT, before trance went fully into the commercial...

Re: Underworld Electronica contemporaries

Paul Hartnoll said relatively recently that the reason recent Orbital albums are shorter is people don't listen to long tracks anymore, as Spotify, iTunes etc. has reduced listeners' attention spans...

Re: Drift Ep. 1, Part 3 - Low Between Zebras

It's nice, but it's the sort of piece that I think would work far better in context of something - album, EP, whatever - rather than as a standalone track.

Re: Underworld Electronica contemporaries

I enjoy their first two albums a lot: they're definitely going for daft rock-infused dance music in places, but there are also plenty of great pure electronic moments, particularly on Electro Glide...

Re: Underworld Electronica contemporaries

I miss those '90s electronica singles where the band reworked their own material in really interesting ways. FSOL were the kings of it, but UW and Orbital did great jobs, Moby did a few good ones as...

Re: Underworld Electronica contemporaries

The Grid had some good tracks, but I find novelty shit like 'Swamp Thing' really embarrassing.

Re: Drift Ep 1 - Another Silent Way (new single)

I would say this is the main list, all British groups who got a fair amount of chart success in the early-to-mid '90s with album-centred post-rave techno / ambient-techno while it actually quite...

Re: Drift ep. 1 part 2: Underworld and [Phase] - Dexters Chalk

The 'Acid Pants' comparison had me worried - a really low point in Orbital's career - but this is much better. Nice track, not as good as last week's maybe, but great to hear them with so much energy...

Re: Drift Ep 1 - Another Silent Way (new single)

Still some time yet, but it'd be pretty poor if the weekly series fell apart after the first week!

Re: Drift Ep 1 - Another Silent Way (new single)

Crikey, this is acidy, more than they've been since the start of Mk II. Loving all the odd noises blurting in, and all the vocal harmonies which seem to be picking up where 'If Rah' left off. Classic...

Probably a Drift-centric redesign.

Re: World of Underworld

I was gonna say maybe another Riverrun thing. Maybe audio/visual too, although possibly just taking too much from the video. Exciting, anyway, I love how utterly odd some of those tracks sound.

Re: Official Underworld social media

I'm always wary when a band talk about a quick follow-up - Karl was talking about writing during the Barbara tour, which immediately suggested a new album a year or two after. Reminds me of when Liam...

Re: Underworld & Iggy Pop - Teatime Dub Encounters (New EP: releases July 27th, 2018)

Ha, I know so many people into electronic music who won't go near guitar-based music.

Re: Underworld & Iggy Pop - Tea Time Dub Encounters (New EP: releases July 27th, 2018

Ah yes, I forgot about the 12"s, my vinyl collection is relatively small and there's nothing on those releases that's warranted me getting them. They were mostly limited edition collectors things...

Re: Underworld & Iggy Pop - Tea Time Dub Encounters (New EP: releases July 27th, 2018

I've enjoyed both tracks, but I agree that Iggy is a bit off-putting. His voice and words just aren't really the kind of thing that appeals to me, unlike Karl's, so I'm immediately just less excited....

Re: World of Underworld

I'm thinking (+ hoping) that this is a particular phrase they're going through, like Riverrun, in that they're approaching stuff differently for a while. If tracks are being intentionally picked to...

Re: Bells & Circles Ft. Iggy Pop

Yeah, Bandcamp is completely ideal for this kind of thing. Upload tracks and art and it's done.

Re: Bells & Circles Ft. Iggy Pop

I'm split on the content, Iggy's over-the-top delivery makes it sound quite self-aware to me. Almost as if he's taking the piss out of the kind of person who'd quite seriously have this kind of rant....

Re: New mysterious art on underworldlive.com -- 16/05/18

This is definitely intriguing, although launching with four Spotify playlists is a bit underwhelming. Good to see some obscurities in there - really happy to see 'Cut Clouds' in the ambient one.

Re: New mysterious art on underworldlive.com -- 16/05/18

This and the 7" art are really, really different from the usual 'messy' (for want of a better word) style. Curious to see how this will all evolve.
