Re: auto tuner recommendations?

I haven't used Melodyne yet but I've seen it in action and it is definitely better than AT. That would be your best bet.

Re: Oblivion with Bells

I seem to recall that a studio version of Always Loved A Film (or Silver Boots then I believe) was up for about two days as a video soundtrack somewhere hidden on underworldlive.com a while ago. I...

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

"another night listening to 'The Thing Action Jazz' turned up loud - yesss!"

Nice one. I just recently recorded a concert of The Thing with Joe McPhee in Houston. They are probably the loudest...

Re: I need tips on mastering

It's probably best to have somebody else master your tracks if you are planning a release. Mastering is best left to engineers who have had years of experience and have the tools and speakers to do...

Re: auto tuner recommendations?

You could always find a free version from some less than reputable site.

Re: auto tuner recommendations?

That Antares plug is the industry standard. It can be kind of tricky to use if you don't know what you're doing though. It sounds the best if you use is manually as opposed to automatically.

Re: Mv & Ee (!!!!!!)

Kranky is a good label in general. Some things you also might like off the top of my head are Stars Of The Lid, Boduf Songs, Jessica Bailiff, Wendy And Carl, and The Dead Texan. Also the first few...

Re: Mv & Ee (!!!!!!)

Kid cue, you should check out Charalambides. They're another group that you'd probably dig. The two most recent releases on Kranky, Joy Shapes and A Vintage Burden are probably the best place to...

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

Perhaps Lemonworld isn't as equipped to record certain types of instruments as well as Abbey Road which is one of the best studios on the island. That pic from yesterday had a lot of instruments all...

Re: Ame

It's two guys but I'm not sure if you'll get both or just one for the set. They have a new mix cd called Mixing out on Sonar Kollektiv which should give you an idea.

There's also a mix set at the...

Re: 120 Minutes

I have the audio on a disc that negative1 sent to me a few years ago. I won't be able to dig it up for a few weeks. Maybe you could ask him in the meantime.

Re: Talking Heads question

I have only heard Remain In Light but it is massively better than the original issue. I always thought that the original record sounded better than the CD issue. The new version remedies that...

Re: 5 pounds for .MP3?

I would like to see then mp3s at 256kbps and possibly FLAC in the future. I cannot tell the difference at 256 but I definitely can at 192. What would probably be best is a choice so that people who...

Re: Richie Hawtin: Transitions

He never started this project with any visuals planned. He only put that there so that people who were interested could know when tracks were coming in and out of the mix. He was going to do and...

Re: LovelyBrokenThing: Break into tracks?

Yeah. I thought that even though they may not say they're actually decoding and re-encoding, that they had to in order to change the audio in any way.

Re: The Juan Maclean

:D

I thought it was fine. I remember when people were getting bitched at for not putting a link in there. Here we have both the artist and the album title and an link to the webpage.

Re: promo CDs

Yep, and I've never heard anybody other than (misinformed?) collectors use acetate for a CD. It's not really an industry term. Reference copy is way more common.

Re: promo CDs

Acetate is a vinyl term only.

That looks like a reference disc made by the mastering studio. There were probably not too many of these made, maybe only a handful, as mastering studios are...
