Holding The Moth - Remix Bundle - file error

Hi Has anyone else found that the third track '03 Holding the moth (Jesse Rose Rmx).aiff' will not play? I have tried Windows Media Player 'One or more of the codecs required to play the file could not be found', Nero 6 '... file format not supported' and Soundforge 'Not a supported file format'. Since the zip file un-zipped OK, it would seem to be a error with the tracks rather than the download. Has anyone else found this problem? Jamie ***EDIT*** I tried a second download to be sure, and that will not play either.

Hi Jamie!

Try renaming the file extension on that file to ".aif" instead of ".aiff"

Your player has standards.....it doesn't like that shitty remix and I don't blame it either. :D

I tried Quicktime Player, and that played the file OK. I would like to burn off the file to CD, along with the others, so I have sent an email to Underworldlive to see if there is a problem with the file. I agree it is not a great remix, but still it would be nice to have it on disc to play through all three mixes if I am in the mood. Jamie

I had the same problem. Solved by dragging into Audacity and saving as a WAV.

OK, so I took a look a closer look into these files. The problem is that the AIFF for Jesse Rose is actually a Little Endian AIFF-C (the other files are Big Endian AIFF). AIFF is technically Big Endian-only. Apple introduced an extension to AIFF-C which basically makes it the equivalent of a Little Endian AIFF.

However, Windows Media Player obviously doesn't support Little Endian AIFF's. So, if you want to be able to play it using WMP, it needs to be converted to either Big Endian AIFF or WAV. So you need a converter/player that supports Little Endian AIFF. If you have QuickTime Pro, you can go to File->Export and choose "Sound to AIFF" or "Sound to Wave". If you have iTunes, add it to your iTunes Library. Then go to the Preferences, and click "Import Settings" and set it to something like WAV. Then select the song in your library, click the Advanced menu and choose "Create WAV version". Or like bazwint suggested, use Audacity to convert it.
