on a not-really-related note, the Texas museum in town is winding down their texas-made movies exhibit and i went the other day. they have the ACTUAL prop straight-razor and meathook from the original texas chainsaw massacre there along with GRANNY herself!!!!!! it was so awesome i couldn't even believe it.

they also had the bowling ball from Dazed and Confused.... so sweet.

Your phone cam isn't so bad. I just got rid of mine. Now I need to save up for one of these bad boys.

To your question: because they can net a return on their investment.

and because people will go, regardless, even diminishing sequel returns will be profitable...and lets not forget the potential after sales; DVD's and repackaged box sets...you have to think way beyond the movie these days...

(i wish they'd do a box office chart of BO take & DVD sales - that would be the true strength of films profitability)

I'm sure I read someone refer to a possible sequel being named "I Continue To Remember What You Did A Few Summers Ago". :D

Jennifer Love Hewitt's huge wonderful boobies.

At least, that's what I remember it being about....;)

I'm pretty sure the boobie thing with JLH was in the second of the Summer ones - wasn't it?

She was in that god-awful-mopey-angsty-5-kids-against-the-world made for shite tv series - and the fact the first Summer movie did well - meant she could get her chest done and make more cash from the sequel.

....

why the hell do I remember this shit?

back on point - the bowling ball from dazed = v. cool

i need to go back and rewatch that.
