Live Instruments

I was thinking while listening to BOY BOY BOY from the OBLIVION BALL, how it would sound as performed by a live band (guitars, bass, drums etc) as it pretty much sounds like that already if you didn't know any better. You think Underworld would ever consider playing a song or two with a live instruments? Would it even be a good idea? (I know they play live, and Karl rocks the guitar, but you know what I mean)

Re: Live Instruments

Sounds like a gr8 idea - Karl has been a guitarist since he was a lad apparently and Rick plays piano and keys, so I'm sure they've already played it acoustically-ish - maybe they could invite Larry Mullen jnr to play live drums (as he played on the track)

Funny you should bring this up.

When I first listened to OWB, I was struck by how "Boy, Boy, Boy" and "Best Mamgu Ever" sounded almost like straight ahead rock songs and that they could easily be played with a full band

Re: Live Instruments

"full live band" is totally unnecessary

UW are already a full live band...

which is a frustrating misconception of a lot of people - or at least when I try and explain UW to people who aren't familiar with their work (not that I'm saying you aren't familiar...)

Underworld are musicians after all...

this is what we'd expect from an unplugged Underworld or acoustic set

we'll still wait for the mellow set (one day, one day my friends)

Pricey can play (or learn) percussion....

Legendary "unplugged" version of Born Slippy. NUXX from 1998 radio interview comes to mind:

"i'm in the toilet boy, i'm having a laugh. Everything is wonderful, HEY!"

And also, an unplugged Push Upstairs was performed during that interview:

"push, push, everybody loves to push!" :D
