Free* Darren Emerson mix

The current issue of DJ Magazine here in the UK comes with a nice Darren Emerson mix, recorded live at Underwtater, The End, aparently.

Definitely worth getting your hands on. Contains a track from the forthcoming Darren Emerson solo album.

(* Ok, so it costs £3.50)

BTW, Emerson played Sensation White here at the weekend. what a fucking total lame sell out. Playing alongside such gorgonzola as Feddy Le Grand, Ferry Corsten and Junior Jack.

The lol part is that the trance-sheep were complaining that it wasnt trancey enough :D hey, lets all wear white and dance to the same tune for 8 hours! youre absolutely fucked if you lose your mates... "what's he wearing then?" "erm... white".

Are you serious?!?!?!??!?!? Damn, that is REALLY stupid.

All these white faggots gathered in a stadium listening to stupid trance music.

I went to 5 Days Off on the same day and went back home by bus and there were some sensation fags in there. Some guys were like, 30 and really don't know what to do with their lives.
I even think most of them didn't even like the music, but they just love the idea of telling all their friends they have been to Sensation.

I must say I find that more enticing than Emerson, frankly. I hate to say it but I kinda think he's lost his edge. When I saw him last (last summer) at The End, I didn't even stay to the end of his set. He just doesn't seem to have progressed much for years, sadly. :(

the mix is ok; but the inside story (brief history of daz) is pretty flippant when it comes to his uw involvement.

presumably because they were acoustic up to that point?

99% of bands at that time were '80's bands' surely?

...that was really shit' darren laughs. the band was, of course, underworld. I know the brief history is just that, brief, an taken out of context, but in these quotes and in longer propert interviews with Darren Emerson, i'm not a big fan of his ego and attitude re: Underworld. Maybe being in a band overshadowed his name and reputation as a DJ at the time, but what a gig it was, certainly a wise career move. But i always get the feeling (wrongly?) that Daz felt he "made" Underworld mkII, when in fact, his degree of musical involvement has always been minimal compared with Rick and Karl, and they were producing quality electronic music prior to his joining.
