beastie boys - the mix up
 

YAY! This was totally unexpected for me. It came up on my favorite torrent site on the weekend and i didn't even know they were working on it. This is not the normal rapping Beastie boys albumn, it is the same style as "In sound from way out". Lots of world-esque intruments and beats, all instrumental, but mixed wiht lots of funk and hip hop style things.

Being that In sound... is my favorite Beastie's albumn I am very excited about this one and have had it on heavy rotation making me forget about the forgetful albumns that I have picked up lately.

it reminds me of old farts who get together every day outside the same cornerstore just to shoot the shit and complain about the kids and the weather

which is totally charming to me. they're simply there to play it seems and not be hampered by what they feel like they have to do.

of course, that intimate vibe always threatens to just be boring and uninspired, but a good stroll with this one on headphones will fix that up.

seriously, it's the best way to listen to this record.
