any 80s music junkies? trying to ID song.

copied over from here:

i used to hear this when i was really little on the radio, so it's probably mid to late 80s/early 90s, and it sounds sort of 'night timey' if that makes any sense, like it's a sort of darker song. the description i have is really vague but i remember it, and i'd like to find a copy of it, but if this description doesn't work i might have to resort to using my microphone and imitating the song.
it has a guy speaking in a really echoey voice and some electronic drums in the background, and he stops singing for a while and there's this noise that goes ah WHEEEEEOOOOH that sounds like some sort of keyboard. yeah i know this could describe 75% of songs in the late 80s/early 90s but any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
daniel.

i've resorted to the microphone.... yes i am desperate :(

i'm pretty sure this isn't a prog-related song, i think it's just a late 80s song that was played on the radio

yeah i tacked that on for comic relief.
that's not an actual song. that's just me imitating it. badly. do you know what song i'm imitating? cos i don't remember it.

it was a great song. i really miss hearing new wave on pop radio stations. now you just hear rap and teeny rockers who can't sing.

maybe we're just slower in the south or something, we had new wave on pop radio stations until 1996 or so, even though the last of new wave was in around '92-'93.

Can you get any more specific stuff from the song for us to try to id it? Maybe a couple lines of lyrics, or a little more gorgeous singing than just that little bit you did?
