Thanks for posting.... That's some old footage. Seems a lot of that ethos has kind of removed itself from the music nowadays.

Either that or we are now in the future and the whole novelty of it being "the music of the future" has worn off.....

Agreed. It really was fascinating to watch the "Trinity" wander around Detroit and walk into SUBMERGE!

Reminds me of the brilliant Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music. Informative, entertaining, funny - perfect time killer.

Aha! So Underworld is defined as 'Classic Trance' (Number 9). Well that settles that.

hahahah. i was trying to find underworld there... i think that they could (should) have their own catagory with fluke and a few others that do the poetic, abstract, intellegent singing overtop of top notch electronic music

i'd say IDM, but that's taken on a new meaning now, but it's still wierd that it's not on there... i wish he made a revised verion with only the good stuff and less of the miami-rap and euro-beat... it's just amazing how much crap there is in electornic music...

anyways, ishkur's is amazing. what a way to spend the first hour at work :S

Loved the videos. It was fun to watch, but I wish either my french or my german was fair enough to understand the Sven Vath/Berlin segments.

I remember when I first saw Ishkur's guide it was in 2000 and then I found it again, last year maybe. I just remember how much the guide had changed in its tone and opinions. I was kind of funny because I think he got more brutal and jaded about dance music, just like a lot of people I know.

What??? I thought Underworld were prog?!?! I don't even like trance or any other modern electronic music.

It's just an average section of society, I guess. At least you don't have to say that electronic music - different from other music genres, like, say, non-electronic music - is crap.

One hour? You just skimmed through the intro, right? The whole thing is sufficient for weeks of "spare" working time...
