upgrading from Stanton 500 AL II

which cartridge should i go with? i feel like i'm not getting really good highs with this cartridge. and are other cartridges more fragile or something? i've heard the 500 can take a beating.

the 500AL mk1 was the good 500, the 500AL mk2 is a piece of crap. Stanton actually made it worse.
Depending on how much money you want to spend, either go for the Ortofon OM Pro (same price as the 500mk2, but a lot more stable and sounds a lot better too), or the Ortofon Concorde Pro (about twice the price of an OM, but sounds even better)

do they have 20-20 response?

edit: it looks like with that concorde pro you don't even use the technics 1200 headshell, right? just put it straight into the tonearm?

I have no idea what 20/20 response is, but yeah the Concorde goes straight into the tonearm, I have the OM Pro myself and it does need the headshell.

I checked the technical guide of my OM Pro and it says all the Concorde and OM products have a Frequency range at -3 dB of 20-20.000 Hz

that's good- the 500 AL II only goes 20 Hz - 16,000 kHz.
