Superman Returns
 

This film just didn't do it for me at all. I wanted it to kick ass so it's a damn shame. For starters, it's just too damn long and there's not enough action to really justify it. It started out very promising in the first half but slowy along the way turned into a big mess of a flick that was pretty hard to stomach near the end. The acting is great for what it's worth, but it aint worth shit because the stuff they're told to say and do either don't make sense or are outright dumb.

Parker Posey is annoying as all hell playing Kitty Kowalski. Lex Luthor is ruined because they make him into a dumbass buffoon that bumbles arounds with Kitty and the crew like it was Boris and Natasha.....uh.

The whole love triangle thing is teeth grating and snooze inducing. Lame use of EXACT shots and music etc from the first films really distract instead of adding anything special. Not to mention some gigantic glaring plot flaws that will make your head explode if you think too hard about them.

They should've just started anew instead of "Returning"....that would have effectively nixed a lot of the weird story decisions they vomited out for the second half of this bloated beast. The John Williams score is great of couse, and I've gotta give credit to the sound effects guys cause the explosions are so fucking tight sounding!

Anyways, that's my spoiler-free opinion of it.....hopefully you'll enjoy it better than I did but don't get your hopes up (up and away).

Sucks to hear.. well, I'm sure to like it anyway. Who knows? Maybe I'll like it. I liked X-Men 3 even though it was universally disliked by almost everyone.

I liked it, but didn't love it. Agree that the end was just.. muddled, mis-timed and could've done with a bit more editing and focus.

Superman totally comes off looking like a crazy stalker. Those scenes of lurking around the back of Lois's home, and using x-ray vision on her whilst she's at home or in the elevator.. I got a really weird vibe off that which probably wasn't intentional. :confused:

I didn't get that at all. He just loved her, they're supposed to be together after all. If he was a stalker he'd be seeing thru her panties or something. He's Superman you have to cut him some slack.

Have to go with the goose on this one - just didn't quite make it for me. Am on holiday and watched it in a small theatre with rock hard seats, so that didn't make it any easier - but it just could have been so much better.

More action - more conflict - less pouting and long lingering looks.

Routh does Kent even better than Reeves - but in some ways thats too creepy as well. I liked the production design - sets were cool and the suit was done right - but the sound was dodgy at this old theatre I saw it at, so that can't have helped.
