Acid Pro etc Processing

I've got a certain audio file that's been processed (rendered to mp3 or WAV) several times through each iteration of working on it. When playing on CD Audio through a very good stereo system I've noticed that aside from an obvious reduction in quality the sound seems to be leaning a lot further to the bass end of the scale, such that say a section of rock music sound now has that house 'hoover' sound accompanying it - is this an effect phenomenom anyone else notices and can anyone recommend a method of cleaning up this audio beyond skewing the EQ to compensate?

Thanks,
-Ally

if you keep it as an acid project you don't have to "process" the file every time you work on it.

if you must "process" it, it's best to always render to wav and not mp3. then you won't have this problem.

also, it's better to use one-shots instead of loops, because Acid will time-stretch loops on the fly (even if the project tempo and loop's tempo are the same), causing some loss of audio quality.

Yeah I understand that - any ideas about improving this audio that I'm left with though?

EQ is probably your best bet on improving the file you have.

But Ally I'm not sure what you mean when you say "through each iteration of working on it". Are you writing a track in Acid (with separate tracks for drums, guitar, bass, vox etc etc), or are you just modifying a single audio file (just a stereo wav/mp3 file for example) using Acid?

No it's a project that's required to be rendered, worked, rendered, worked. That's why the problem has manifested..
