Mission Impossible 3

tom cruise discussions aside has anyone else here seen the film yet?

i have to say that for a big budget hollywood franchise film it was actually rather enjoyable - sure there's some holes and cringey bits but on the whole it's a pretty decent action thriller movie that's a lot darker than the first two and has some great stunts.

phillip seymour hoffman is great, obviously, as the bad guy but lawrence fishburne also puts in a great show as cruise's boss

definitely a popcorn movie but a very enjoyable one at that :)

yeah i more or less agree. it's by far the best of the series but that's not saying much if you ask me... i still don't understand how something that explodes behind Cruise makes him get thrown to the side to hit the car but... it's impressive on a purely visual level nonetheless. pretty decent is right.

It was worth seeing, definitely. A little heavy handed at times in regards to its political message and the operations team were a bunch of sobs but it was worth the price of admission. I'd recommend it but would also tell people not to expect the next great movie a la something in the "Bourne Identity" vein. I happen to love that series.

I dunno, I thought the first one was pretty good. It was cheesy, but the action seemed fairly fresh to me. Also, killing Emilio Estevez was great.

i liked MI3, definitely better than your average summer flick.

not surprisingly it was eons better than MI2, which was just godawful trash. i still probably like the first mission: impossible the most, if only for de palma's visual style and the european locations.

btw interestingly as i knew that jj abrams had done 'lost', i found myself watching mi3 and thinking how it curiously felt like the pilot episodes of lost... only with a bigger budget and guns. there was just something about it that was similar in spirit. later on i checked out what episodes abrams had actually directed on lost, and much to surprise there were only two: the pilot episodes.

as a blind al pacino would say: WHOO-AH!

Yeah, I agree that it was pretty decent. But, I still think the first one was the best.

I thought the second one was the worst. I don't really like John Woo films, though I think it was cool that Tom Cruise had long hair in it.

I thought it was a nice action movie, nothing more, nothing less. Enjoyed it all the way through, although I was hoping for a little more 'Lost' in it, since JJ Abrams directed it.

Were you expecting Citizen Kane? The Godfather? It's Tom Cruise. It's Mission Impossible. Come on now.

But it was something more. It has PSM.
