Apollo 440
Any fans here? If yes, then I want to know one thing.
Track: Pain Is a Close Up (from album Millenium Fever) It has weird lyrics including some nazi`s regards. (At 5:13) Can someone who is Apollo 440 fan explain me, what that means? Cos I dont want to listen to some unpleasant stuff... I thought before that they were cool, its sad you know... Thx |
Re: Apollo 440
they deserve more praise than i give them.
they were one of the founders in my musical world. gettin high on your own supply - brilliant in response to your question, no :D |
Re: Apollo 440
They are good band, but this thing I discovered is not clear...

the music itself may be a malicious assault on the ears, but-- :p i kid. seriously though, glam pt 2 was like the only thing of theirs i still think is listenable and ALSO seriously though: does it matter if they have lyrical content that doesn't really suit you? i mean, you're rockin to it probably and no one's brainwashing anyone. although nazism may be a bit strong to take it doesn't mean that you absolutely must stop listening to it altogether. (it's actually kind of funny to think of actually coming from this group) |
Re: Apollo 440
loved the eponoymous track from their album electro glide in blue, although didn't rate too much of the rest of the album

Re: Apollo 440
Everyone must judge that personally. Im not shouting against them, Im only saying that I discovered something weird. So its all up at the listeners...
I will better stick to Uw, that seems to be more safe:) |
Re: Apollo 440
Your kidding... right?

Re: Apollo 440
i quite enjoyed "Electro Glide in Blue" as it's a fun mix of styles from blues to ambient to rock. "Gettin' High on your Own Supply" has a lot of energy and some great sountrack-y instrumentals, as well as several corny but enjoyable bigbeat cuts. i haven't heard their first or latest LP so i can't comment on the lyrical content you mention. But remember they also had a track with a vocal about putting one's hands around a white man's throat, so i don't think they're being supremacist.
As an aside, the album art of Prodigy's "Fat of the Land" says: "Would you rather have butter or guns? Preparedness makes us powerful. Butter merely makes us fat", which was stated by Hermann Goering, a nazi general. i don't remember this causing any controversy whereas "Smack my bithc up" made a stir. |
