new Biosphere album - Dropsonde
Anyone else into this dude? Anyway, to be released Feb. 21st: http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/.../Dropsonde.htm
Listen to some of the samples, sounds awesome in my opinion. I already have 'Substrata' and just got 'Autour De La Lune' today (which admittedly is quite... difficult), anyway, check this new shiz-nit out b-boy. |

I was gonna ask about this guy...local recordstore guy who talked to me for a bit about how good Richie Hawtin's Consumed is recommended him...you would second that? Recommended starting point?

Re: new Biosphere album - Dropsonde
This is already out in the UK, and, as someone who has every Biosphere album, can definitelty recommend it. Much easier to get into than AdlL. Definitely a candidate for his best album yet.

Re: new Biosphere album - Dropsonde
the LP version was already released in november last year, and made it in my Top 20 of 2005. it's definitely a great record, one of Biosphere's best (especially after the minimalistic crap of "Autour de la Lune"). this might be the birth of a new genre called "ambient-jazz". boomkat calls it the ambient version of the cinematic orchestra, which is quite fitting.
CD version contains four exclusive track, but sadly lacks "in the shape of a flute", which is only available on the LP and simply stunning. |
Re: new Biosphere album - Dropsonde
he claims to be finished making electronic music so this is probably the last "Biosphere" album.

Re: new Biosphere album - Dropsonde
Biosphere is simply wonderful.. Substrata, Patashnik and the new Dropsonde are all great. I kind ogf like Microgravity as well actually. It was my first Biosphere album after beeing totally tripped out by Patashnik at a early morning party somewhere..

I heart Consumed. Seriously.
I had it for awhile, and was interested in it, only, until one night... listening to it by myself with the itunes visualizer projected six feet wide on my wall while the snow fell outside...i felt so lonely and warm and lucky and modern...it was lush i was also on lsd. i hate admitting that because i know it spins the anecdote in a different light, but, fuck it, i'll be honest. *sigh* i'm going to become the new champion of intelligent, responsible hallucinogen use. right as soon as my parents pass away and it won't shame my mom. please don't tell my mom. |

where's the love for Cirque?
I think its his best, all the mood of substrata plus some added melodic warmth and variety. yes auture de la lune made me worry biosphere was a dry faucet. thanks for the info on his new stuff |
