looking for a born slippy mix...
this is has been doing my nut in for years and i'm now thinking i may have imagined it.
i'm sure i had a mix of born slippy nuxx 2003 which as i remember was the same as the main extended mix but with different vocals. i think it may have been just called karl's mix (although google has drawn a blank on that). i think it started with him saying 'hi, it karl here' and then goes on to to just talk about cardiff, history of the band, kinda freeforn stuff van anyone help? did i make this up?? |

Re: looking for a born slippy mix...
That's the one. I'm not sure what the provenance was on that one though? A Dirty mix special?

the fact that i didnt invent was my main resolve! i'm sure i'd ripped it off a cd at the time that i have long since binned. |

Re: looking for a born slippy mix...
Yep, that was my mix from many years ago. I can't remember where Karl's Ode to Cardiff originated, but I no doubt learned of it from these forums and burned it to CD.
Nice vibe to his memories, same warm sense you get reading "I Am Dogboy". I've never been the biggest fan of Slippy ( when I first heard it in the 90's, the chords sounded cheesy to me, akin to McCartney's "Simply having a wonderful Christmas time"!). But it's such a part of the band's identity and there have been some great live versions and remixes. And since most of the remixes and non-NUXX versions of Born Slippy are in the same BPM, it was a pretty easy mix to make. |
