Link Wray RIP

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051121/...mu/obit_wray_3

I missed this a few days ago.... truth be told I didn't know he was still alive but since he was it's now sad that he's gone. I remember watching Pulp Fiction for the first time then buying the soundtrack and being pissed that his Rumble and Jack The Ripper were not on it. thus ensued a long vague search for "that cool guitar song while Uma walks to the bathroom" that ultimately ended with me finding out about Link Wray: the creator of guitar distortion. His rendition of the Batman theme is hilarious. Anyone else out there fans?

On NPRs Fresh Air program they had a tribute to Link Wray Wednesday, November 23. At that point I learned he had passed away.

I too was quite disappointed to learn that after buying the Pulp Fiction soundtrack back in 94 that 'that one song that plays in the Jack Rabit Slim scene before Uma goes to do a bunch of coke in the bathroom' wasn't on the soundtrack.

It took me a couple years, but then I learned about who Link Wray was and got the best of CD.

The Batman theme is quite amusing.
