Oblivion With Bells complete version?

Crocodile and Beautiful Burnout are the only tracks off of OWB that are have long/unedited versions, right?

That have been released, yes.

Crocodile's extended ending is really only for the transition to Beautiful Burnout, so I wouldn't consider it substantially different from what's on the album.

Beautiful Burnout, on the other hand, has a whole structured beginning that was edited out in lieu of mixing with Crocodile on the album.

As for unreleased stuff, when played live, Boy, Boy, Boy has additional lyrics and jamming and a proper ending.

Also, I would not be surprised if longer edits existed for Glam Bucket and Faxed Invitation.

Also, the version of "To Heal" is substantially longer (and with Mr. Smith's vocals!) on the "Songs for Tibet" record than on OWB.

The instrumentation is different though from the OwB and Sunshine version. The differences are substantial enough that I'd consider them different versions, and that's not the version that Rick chose for the album.

TheBang, where can I find the extended cut of Beautiful Burnout? I want that track! I swear it used to be on the UK (or maybe Japanese) iTunes, but I'm not seeing it...

The OwB singles appear to be out of print. It was on some of the digital single versions, but they are no longer available.

Your best bet is probably to find one of these promos, but I wasn't able to find any for sale off-hand:

This is true. I kind of wish that the Tibet version or the mix played on the live internet show in 2005-ish was the album version. The OWB mix (similar to the Sunshine OST version, although i wonder how much of John Murphy is in that mix) is affecting and orchestral, but sort of dies down as soon as it builds up. The lyrics and cooing child voice make it for me.

OWB - a nice, fairly relaxing album, but lacking the punch that could have been based on previous versions of tracks like Glove and Biro/Burnout.

What track is Glove? Early version of a track on OwB, or no?

TheBang 04-04-2011 12:45 AM

Re: Oblivion With Bells complete version?

That was a typo. He meant "Globe," which was the working title for Holding the Moth.

Is there anyway of getting hold of the files that were only available from underworldlive ie Holding the moth extended version and the Peach tree version on the Boy boy boy cd?
