looking for good 80s movies

years being around 78-94ish. i'm looking for well produced movies (no troll 2) that primarily occur at night and may be a thriller type thing, with a lot of travelling in cars and going different places. you used to see these movies on repeat a lot, but not anymore... for some reason this style, whatever it is, is probably one of my favourite film styles. i know this is super vague but i think you might know what i mean.

movies like:
-into the night
-the pelican brief
-china moon

etc.

i'm not sure if this is following a pattern, i can give more examples if needed.

Did you take a look at the recommendations on IMDb, Amazon or film review sites?

Handy services if you don't know what film to watch: moviepilot quickratings and filmfinder. Sometimes delivering interesting results from which to go on and find something worthwhile.

Ever seen Scorsese's After Hours? That one came out in 1985. I've not seen it in about 15 years so I can't quite remember if there's much car travel involved (possibly bits of it are merging with my memories of Taxi Driver) but I know that After Hours was all set across one night, and it gives the picture a real nightmarish feel.

Talking of Eddie Murphy, I was going to suggest 48 Hrs (1982), but it's probably not quite the moody thriller bryant had in mind!

Howz about Red Rock West?
