Sounds like a pair of accetates to me.
Matt would know then I think, but he's moving house atm.

Acetate is a vinyl term only.

That looks like a reference disc made by the mastering studio. There were probably not too many of these made, maybe only a handful, as mastering studios are not usually in the business of making a bunch of advanced copies of things.

I've seen it being used in cd-r context too.

Google teaches me:

The CD Acetate

When mastering to CD, the Recordable CD (CDR) is used in a similar way to acetates, with the sound being checked from a CDR.

In the early days of the CD some dealers sold these CDRs for very high prices and referred to then as "CD Acetates". The ease with which they are forged has killed the market for rare CDRs and the term CD Acetate is no longer widely used

Re: promo CDs

collectors speak of acetates still yeah, might be better to call them studio CDRs or something.

still around - just very busy and my internet is up the spout - dialing in...

anyway..

not heard of this item...those promo edits sound sweet if they are of the remixes...

but acetates like this are pretty common, but rare, i mean common by saying that record companies often master stuff like this on a small scale - sometimes for execs to listen to, sometimes for the bands and sometimes the radio stations, its never really issued as a promo type cd...like the standard cd-r promo you get...

the only PU promos i know of are the card sleeved JBO promos....

but acetate is now used for CD if rather incorrectly, as i think acetate is a term for the actual material used to make those 'vinyl' acetates...

anyhow...a full track list and description / photo would be nice...is it hand written of custom printed on the disc??

Push Upstairs (Narcotic Haze Dub) ?? ??

Ne'er heard this one! Is this the only place to hear it (kinda like those rare italian KOS mixes)?

Re: promo CDs

the Narcotic Haze dub isn't too much different than the normal Roger S mix...
I don't think I have an actual 'hard copy' of the track, but I def have a 160kbps mp3

what I'm wondering about - is the Darren Price Edit
