The Weatherman

Not being too much of a cage fan, I have to admit that this movie blew me away. Its an emotional rollercoaster. One of those movies that hit me personally, and I walked out of the theatre and all i could think was..."fuck..."

great movie

funny and emotional at the same time, I love that :)

And for me it really posesses all of the details of living in chicago during the winter

wow old thread. i saw this movie since my last post. i was surprised by its lack of suckiness. i didn't think the ending was weak either, but i can't really remember how it ended at the moment. it's definitely quality though i think... it could have been SO much worse.

Sorry, my post was misleading...I quite liked most of it, but the end of it he's in the oh wait SPOILERS BELOW

in the end of it he's got the job in new york and he's in the parade, and he looks towards the camera and says something lame, i can't remember what

I just felt the ending sort of deflated the emotional tension of everything beforehand. It was like, and he got a new job and everything was okay. I mean, there was more to it than that, with him accepting his role in life, but, I don't know, I didn't like it as much as the rest of the movie.

My favorite bit was a) "Like a Rock," and b) the scene when it looks like he's going to shoot his wife's new lover with the bow. I was on the edge of my seat, going, "Oh no...," "Oh no...," for that one.

ahhh right, yeah i hear you on that. I think it might be because in most similar cases we always see the main dude make some much more major change before his life gets better at the end. with this, it seemed like he didn't do much.. ok he started carrying the bow around or whatever but still, he didn't turn down the job to stay with his family and be a better man or anything like that, so it's unexpected.

that reminds me of a really great movie I just saw (Thank You For Smoking) where the main character goes through that same downturn but doesn't change AT ALL. he doesn't give anything up, he doesn't become a better person, he doesn't apologize for being a dick or anything... and yet it's still sort of that kind of movie.... so definitely catch it as soon as you can.

Glad to see some others have respect for this movie...

I thought it was the most underrated film of last year... amazing, moving stuff.
