Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

I was curious how this album has aged with you guys. I can't stand it (The Love Below, anyway).

Wish it had lived up to the promise of GhettoMusick. Remember when that single came out?

i still really like 'hey ya' and 'roses'.

as an album though, it just doesnt compare to aquemini

Classic double album syndrome. Should have been a single.

This said, I still love:

Ghettomusik
Unhappy
The Way You Move
Hey Ya
Prototype
She Lives In My Lap
Spread
Roses

Which is pretty much how I feel about Stankonia too.

Aquemni is their classic.

Speakerboxxx just doesn't grow on me...

I like The Love Below as a whole, it's great as an album, but not all tracks can standout on their own.

The Love Below is still my favourite "OutKast" disc, although I prefer ATLiens over the double album as a whole. Second behind that, though.

i never really think about it, i never play it, and i'm glad i decided to wait until i find it used....
but "ghettomusick" brings back some good times, so it's not like i can't stand it.

and i'm pretty sure i still have a soft spot for "my favorite thing"

Re: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

I haven't touched "The Love Below" probably since late 2003. Outside of a couple of great moments ['Spread', 'She Lives in My Lap', still 'Hey Ya!'], it's a masturbatory mess that I have no interest in listening to. Phooey to you, Andre 3000.

"Speakerboxxx", on the other hand, still sounds as fantastic as it did when it came out. Still a little sloppy near the end, but a killer nonetheless. If Prince ain't gonna make albums like this anymore, I'm glad someone is. :D

Take care,
James

Re: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

Yeah, James, you described how I feel, there. The Love Below is a perfect example of an under-produced album, not that the production techniques are lacking, but that it sounds like there was nobody there to say, "Ummmm......no," to Andre.

Seriously, he needs to get on the pot again.
