Shoegaze

I'm looking for some good Shoegaze music, although it doesn't have to be pure shoegaze. I'm already getting into MBV's Loveless and some albums by Slowdive and Ride. I also have a song by Bowery Electric, called "Fear Of Flying", which is delicious. If anyone knows any more music in that direction (preferably not sounding too dated) please tell me :)

Working for a Nuclear Free city have picked up the mantle quite nicely.

Older MUST have releases:
Swervedriver Mezcalhead
Spiritualized Pure Phase or Ladies and Gentlemen We are floating in Space

Thanks. I already know WFANFC and yeah they are fantastic. I'll check the others out.

The Bowery Electric album that Fear of Flying is on is good. It's called Beat.

Other albums:

Ecstasy of Saint Theresa - Susurrate
Lush - Gala
Lush - Spooky
Secret Shine - Untouched (the best track is called Underworld)
Pale Saints - The Comforts of Madness

Inspirations:

Cocteau Twins - Treasure (everything by Cocteau Twins is good)
Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy

Re: Shoegaze

for something a little more recent, I'd suggest Doves' "Lost Souls" (2000).

bh

PS. Slowdive and Ride are ace.

unfortunately they never imo matched the beauty of their first 3 eps, which u can pick up as an album pubic fruit.

slowdive had some good stuff, soulvaki (sp) space station is blissful

swervedrivers first two albums are classics imo (they are playing oxford & london end of november too if anyones interested)

of newer stuff autolux's 'future perfect' is brilliant and everyone who i've introduced to it can't understand why they aren't big and the pains of being pure of heart debut lp is good too although at the poppier end of the spectrum
