On a Razor's Edge. The Story of Dirty Epic

Linked from the article linked on the Dirty Facebook page.

I'm only on page 2 at the moment, but this needed discussion I felt:
Quote:

“Darren was into the Beatles,” Hyde explains. “He was this 19-year-old house DJ who liked the Beatles and Frankie Knuckles. It was like, ‘OK, I’m trying to get my head around that.’ And he felt that there was value to some of the elements of our past lives, that it was interesting to have guitars, it was interesting to have an interest in reggae or film music or Brian Eno. He was very important in encouraging us to not jettison everything that we’d done.”
I'd always assumed Darren was a force of change within the group, as opposed to one that encouraged some continuity with their past.

This is a terrific read! Love seeing Karl's lyrical notebooks (such neat handwriting!) And learning more about the early days.

While mk3 doesn't have a single point of dubno/STitI perfection, I don't find it so bad. There's not a bad track on AHDO (though the album as a whole feels a little samey) Riverrun/OwB is wonderful, and there's a few gems within Barking. Too bad most of that album had 'EDM' smeared all over it, though. To each their own, of course.

If the Maida Vale session and RFH are anything to go by, though, there's some recaptured magic happening right now.

Hear, hear! Think of what they could get up to at Moogfest 2016...

Finally caught up on the article today. One of the best I've read in a long while. Another heartfelt thanks.
