No Emotion........

I was reading the other day that The Editors are in the process of releasing a more electronic based album and have quoted as saying that many electronic tracks dont have any emotion which is true in a lot of respects but......
I've been listening to Dinner At Rods a fair bit recently and that just gets under my skin....(In a good way!) maybe the fact that the mighty John Peel is voiceing it. I know many people are saying alot of about the impact of MJ....but to me the biggest loss in recent times to music is John Peel anyway.....
We all have many Underworld tracks that hit the spot but who else do you think nails it when it comes to an emotional track or album?
Biospheres - Substrata springs to mind...

Well, there are plenty of rock/pop/folk songs that do get under my skin and get me all emotional (certain tracks by Sigur Ros, Nick Drake, Coldplay, Cat Stevens are particularly effective. I'm so sappy!)

But if you're asking for songs by "electronic" outfits that tug my heartstrings, i'd offer -

mostly all of "Wide Angle" LP by Hybrid
"Don't forget me" by Way Out West
"Papua New Guinea" - Future Sound of London
"God moving across the face of the waters" - Moby
"One Perfect Sunrise" - Orbital
"Little Things" - 2 Bit Pie
"Blue Sky" - Fluke
"8 Ball" - Underworld
"Spacewalk" and "Page One" - Lemon Jelly
most all of "Melody AM" LP - Royksopp
...

If you want some emotion (and not the sappy kind), check out "Boy Boy Boy" live:

It obviously carries some heavy emotional weight for Karl. I had wondered why it was included on the album, as a lot of people didn't like it, but after seeing it live, I can tell it has some heavy significance for them.

Of course, BBB's not your typical electronica song, but still.

Bang, man, that's a great video! Sound and image just lovely! Why can't more UW live vids on youtube be this good?
(Cool to see Rick singing along, too!)

I would really need to see this quote in context but it seems like an extremely odd thing to say.

Really? It is a fantastic track imo and one of my favs from the recent album. No matter how often I hear it, I get goosebumps each time because it is so intense. Great video btw, thanks for the link. :)
