maybe if we leave poop in a specific area that we know not to step in and then the spammers will get poo on their shoes :D

can't we just delete the 'bound' forum and bring it back as 'bound again' or something like that? i realize that it's just a temporary fix since there's nothing stopping them from hitting another area of darktrain, but it might be worth a shot . . .

i think it might be partially the name too: bound -> bondage -> pr0n spamming...

maybe like "literature and other childrens books" would be less enticing...

Suggestion:

Admin approval of new accounts, this could be filtered by email address &/or selected IP ranges.

Moderator approval for initial posts.

i dont mind deleting threads, it's having to go into forum manager and banning these people that takes the extra 90 seconds. if i could just have a button that says "BAN USER FROM THE INTERNET" alongside 'delete thread' i could do this all day.

i have stopped banning the user because after a while you notice that they never seem to use the same account. at the current rate i am deleting about 6 to 8 messages in this forum a day, and i'm guessing it is similar for others

we need a way to not only ban the user but delete him/her from this interface so it reduces the number of users in the database

Yan tried for a while with The Bible Isn't Long Enough - don't know if you remember? Didn't make any difference.

The only way around this would be to go back to all new user requiring an admin to agree them. And the admins don't necessarily have time for all that. But janitors don't mind taking the mop round. Between us all, with the different time zones, I doubt if anything nasty is posted for more than a coupla hours ;)

i wouldnt mind approving new memberships. at this point i'm banning anyone with a mail.ru account that make posts that are obviously just BS.

I moved one into treatment - the anime one. Didn't seem offensive. Just a bit obsessive, but a subject that people here could relate to. Unlike viagra. Well.... I haven't spoken to Rog about that. Maybe he wants us to keep the viagra threads. :p

it's too many links and hype for it to just be a forum member coming in blowing up about anime on their first post. it wasnt offensive, but it was spam and my tolerance for it these days is at record lows, in case no one noticed ;)

does anyone know WHY only the bound is getting hit with Spam ?
( me thinks it's because we have a spam thread innit ) !
no other room gets hit.
YAN...delete the SPAM thread.

I think it is prolly due to spambots. I am not 100% (not even 50%) sure about the techy side of this, but I have a feeling that once one "route" into a site has been "set up" through code, new users are automatically created to post through that same "code route". Or something.

i've had enuff of it, i'm sending a personal message to said spammers, that Rick will throw said brick he got hit in the mellon with, right at em'.
