1996-08-24 Leysin Alpes Festival
I found this newspaper, which confirms the name of this festival as the inaugural edition of the "Leysin Alpes Festival":
http://doc.rero.ch/record/72697/files/1996-08-26.pdf featuring "Mark Hyde" of Underworld on the cover photo. Turns out, they only sold 9,000 tickets, when they were hoping to sell 15,000, which means that was probably the one and only edition of the Leysin Alpes Festival. |

thanks for that - I'm finally getting around to organizing (and re-tagging) all of my old UW live recordings, so it's good to have the proper festival name & date

Thanks for uncovering this little gem. Running the text of the article through Google Translate makes it sound like they were trying to be too many things at the same time, right in the middle of the late summer festival season where people were spoiled for choice already.

It should be noted that the recording of this gig is incomplete. It starts with Pearl's Girl, whereas they opened the set with Juanita/Kiteless, followed by Confusion the Waitress. Pearl's Girl was only the third sing.

Yeah, I didn't figure it was the whole show, as the recording is on the short side. Did you happen to make note of the entire setlist?
