This is a perfect opportunity for some good old improvisation rather than the predictability we have become accustomed to. If it doesn't happen here I doubt it will ever happen again.

Absolutely. I'm hoping/expecting it will be similat to the Rijksmuseum show. Gutted I can't make it.

Re: 2018-11-02 The Warehouse Project - Manchester

A thought I've been thinking.

When we refer to 'improv' we mean all the little unexpected bits. Bridges between songs, little interludes, or unexpected versions of songs that may not actually have been improvised. For example, I highly doubt the renditions of Rez/Cowgirl from the Roundhouse 2007 shows were entirely improvised, but they would absolutely fall under the umbrella of what we're referring to.

I suspect when they hear improv, they take it VERY literally to mean entirely improvised sections, which I'd imagine they've not done in at least 15 years. I don't think the Peel session was mostly off the cuff, for example.

Back on topic of this show, I would actually be surprised if it *wasn't* in the vein of the Amsterdam show, including unexpected or unknown bits in between the well defined current festival numbers.

I think so too - definitely something unusual
It hasn't been announced on UWlive yet so they are probably going to revamp / relaunch the website once again.
Crossing my fingers for an official release after this event

Well, hoping for another special show like last year's Rijksmuseum show then:

It's too bad that instagram destroys image quality, can't see much. :/ TMO, KOS, and Low burn are the only tags I can make out, nothing on any of the screens either.

I wondered if anyone had any inside knowledge on the set times as a friend of mine wants to go but is watching David Byrne at the MEN on the same evening and wants to know if they'll be able to get to both. I also realise that last entry is 10:30 at WP so not sure they'll be able to get there without missing the end of the other gig anyway!

Re: 2018-11-02 The Warehouse Project - Manchester

I'd be surprised if they were on before 1 am.

I've been to several warehouse shows and never been in before 10:30. Never even had to use an excuse. Just don't give them any other reason to not let you in. I once saw DM at the MEN (didn't miss a minute) then walked across town to Store St for Sasha & Digweed. No problems.

Has anyone on here had issues with late entry to WHP?

Cheers, that's really helpful! Would be good to know if anyone has had trouble getting in late!

2 weeks out, no mention of the special guests. Instagram says they've already made the journey north.

Who wants to engage in wild speculation?

Underworld from 1 to 3am with no openers. Since doors close at 1030 everyone is unhappy at having sat around for 2.5 hours

Underworld all night!

Rick does ambient opener again
Pricey DJs
High contrast
Karl's band/Brian Eno

Darren Emerson's current 3Dj project
Frantic assembly does improv interpretive dance
Surprise sets from orbital/chems/aphex

What wild ideas y'all got based on no evidence what so ever.

Hm, an all-night thing would be interesting. Given how special they're trying to make this sound (like last year's Rijksmuseum gig), I hope they stream it.

I'll be there and should be wearing my old born slippy t-shirt!

Am hoping (but not expecting) for some real surprises like Bamboo, Peach Tree, Ramajama/King Of Snake (as a throw back to the 1998 Temptation gig!).
Would be ecstatic if they did Please Help Me/Cappe Ffuno like Blue Mountain Gig and would love the long start to Rez!
I've never seen them play Juanita so would love that and would like the proper ending of Nuxx or the 2003 piano ending!
Final request would be Lowburn/Beautiful Burnout mash up!
They probably won't do any of my requests but I'm sure they'll be brilliant anyway, I just hope I manage to stay awake so late! 😂👴

they had an instagram livestream up briefly (similarly to the Reykjavik gig) but it went down, hopefully they'll get it back going again. that first track (new ID) that they were playing sounds monumental.

so far it seems they've played a new track, Two Months Off and are now playing Another Silent Way.

Rats. I only saw Juanita on the live stream (which I think was first) and then it crapped out for me. Was the new track after that?

i'm pretty sure it may have been after it. i do recall getting a notification that the livestream started but when i went to check, it wasn't up. another livestream was put up shortly after and this new track must've been playing. it definitely didn't sound like Juanita since there were different lyrics and big, brash sounds. i could be wrong seeing how it was hard to tell what was playing due to the quality but i'm certain it was a new track. they stopped putting up further livestreams half-way through Another Silent Way.

Re: 2018-11-02 The Warehouse Project - Manchester

Saw the live stream clips. Definitely a new song, but what's almost more exciting is that after digging through Instagram stories of the location, I think I saw that they PLAYED why, why, why tonight.

I may be wrong, they may have only walked on to it, but I'm PRETTY sure they played why, why, why. Truly besode myself at the thought of this show. Really hope they bring this tour to the states.

Just back, awesome!
Order might be slightly wrong between PG and KOS but:
Juanita
Pearl's Girl
Bond... Country (I couldn't see all the letters of the first word on the screen behind Rick's head!) Karl said they wrote it in their bedroom with Phase. (The screen seemed to be playing up a bit at the start as it only said PG as it was ending!)
I Exhale
Another Silent
Two Months Off
Why Why Why
Mmmm Skyscraper
Bells & Circles
Lowburn
King Of Snake
Rez/Cowgirl
NUXX (with an epic fail at the start as Karl couldn't hear anything so Rick kept the heaven chords going for ages before restarting - he isn't just pressing play on a pre recorded track!)
Venue was good and it was loud (unlike Manchester Albert Hall) and the laser lights were unbelievably good at times!
I'm loving all the very new stuff as it's proper banging Underworld unlike Barbara 'new' stuff. I can’t wait for all the new drift releases now!
Dissapointingly no UW merchandise only WHP stuff!

Re: 2018-11-02 The Warehouse Project - Manchester

I'm sure we will get a proper setlist from someone, but I enjoy the sleuthing. So far I have confirmed in no particular order:

Juanita kiteless
((New song that might be or might not be Phase))

Another silent way
TMO
Rez
Cowgirl
PG (similar to ADE with extra bits)
KoS
Nuxx
Skyscraper

And maybe why, why, why

Thats nearly a 90 minute set right there (and a blistering one at that), though I feel like they went on at 130a and not 1230a, so maybe they just sent it and went for 2 hours?

Was definitely Juanita then PG then new one with Phase. Definitely full Why Why Why into Skyscraper!
Am going to try and get some kip now but am still buzzing!

They definitely went on at 12:30 AM, as that was when I tuned into IG live and saw Juanita. But yeah, that setlist is long. Had to have been 2 hours, right?

Can't possibly have been the full Why Why Why? 12.5 minutes? Had to have been an 8 minute edit or something. If that's indicative of the kind of deep cuts they're preparing, the shows this month should be quite something.

In an interview earlier this year, Ø [Phase] said they were working with Underworld, so... result of that collaboration?

Any interesting things in your pipeline?
I have a fair bit of new material I’m currently testing but no set release schedule as yet. Also one or two remixes lined up. Besides that I’ve been in the studio with Underworld at various points in the last year; that is still a work in progress at present.
‘Border Country’ was the other title slide I saw that I hadn’t seen before.

It was a pretty long version, I just meant longer than an intro as someone suggested!
They played 12:30 - 2:10. I think they overran slightly with the mess up at start of nuxx!
