2019/5/31-6/3 Sydney run

I dug the direct link to the photo of the song tags out of instagram today. Peach Tree, Winjer, After Sky (?), Everybody Jack, and Moon in Water are surprising to see on there. Almost all of DNB is on there, and a surprising amount of Barking is too.

Gonna be a good run of shows!

After Sky is the ambient downtempo part that plays at the end of Mmm...Skyscraper.

upon further inspection, it looks like Border Country and Soniamode (its live debut!) will be played too. surprisingly, Motorhome is on there, which i don't think has ever been played live.

Re: 2019/5/31-6/3 Sydney run

So, the interesting ones:

Never been played: Motorhome, Moon in Water, Soniamode, Listen to Their No, Winjer (?)
Haven't been played in a long time: Between Stars (6 years), Air Towel (11 years)
Only played on Dubno tour: M.E., After Sky, River of Bass, Tongue

That's not even all the mixer strips, because there are a lot of obvious things missing, like Rez/Cowgirl, King of Snake, Juanita, Ova Nova/Nylon Strung, Low Burn, Dark Train, Bells & Circles

I was at last night’s first show, and yeah it was fantastic.

Set list from vague memory, can’t remember the precise ordering:
Cowgirl
Dark train
Spoonman
Ova Nova
Nylon Strung
This must be drum street
Another silent way
Scribble
Low burn
Border country
King of snake
Listen to their no
Two months off
Nuxx
Moaner (encore)

The new Drift material sounded fantastic live, not too different from the EP recordings but they absolutely went off. Looking forward to Border Country on a future Drift hopefully! The lights were also AMAZING, lots of lasery goodness.

Really looking forward to coming back tonight to see them again, and wishing now that I could see the remaining two evenings.

They're doing NUXX with the studio ending this year, which, I don't think they've ever done before. And by studio ending, I mean the specific argpeggios.

6th video in this series has Listen to Their No:

Could be wrong of course, but I suspect they know just how good Border Country is, so maybe they will keep it back for a 'proper' single/album release

They opened with TMO tonight. Not sure if I've ever seen them do that before.

New songs tonight were Pearl's Girl, Juanita, Jumbo, and Rez before Cowgirl. Otherwise, I saw videos for a lot of the same suspects as last night: Another Silent Way, Border Country, Listen to Their No, This Must Be Drum Street, King of Snake, Nuxx

Nah, Juanita was the opener tonight, TMO was directly afterwards though. But yeah the rest of the set was as you’ve posted. Was another great night all up!

Yeah, the video that I saw gave the impression that TMO was first.

I recorded night 2's Border Country in its entirety because I knew I'd want to listen to it again today. Enjoy. :)

Re: 2019/5/31-6/3 Sydney run

For night 1 I set my GoPro down and just let it do its thing for a good 60-ish minutes until the battery died (recording in 4k was probably a bad idea). Wasn't really expecting much to be honest, but I've been going through the recording this evening and it's.. surprisingly watchable? Happy to try and assemble it all and get it on RTSR or something; I assume the band are not vehemently against more extensive bootlegs or anything these days?

Re: 2019/5/31-6/3 Sydney run

I wasn't there tonight but I went to the first three shows (my first time seeing them live). They were all fantastic performances but the energy on Saturday was particularly incredible.

According to setlist.fm no newcomers tonight? I thought they might have included Push Upstairs or maybe I Exhale for something different from the other shows.

6 minutes is not enough time for such exquisite techno.

In an Instagram post, a couple people asked about Border Country being released. Karl replied saying it was "coming soon". I'm sure we could surmise that, but it's good to have confirmation that it will apparently be released by the end of Drift.

Here's a trainspot for you. I knew I'd heard the little piano ditty before that Rick plays at 0:17 in this video.

It took me a minute to find it, but If you go to 1:05 on the track labeled "Chat Room Answers 6 and Thank You" on the 2008-06-11 Underworld Radio Show, Rick plays the same ditty in hilarious fashion.

Hey all, enjoy a nice slice of night 1's performance below.

Apologies that it's a little rough/handheld-ey at the start, and yes, unfortunately the camera battery packed it in right as Scribble gets going. If nothing else just skip to the 55min mark and let King of Snake's lasers melt your face off.

Nice video!

The crowd seem pleased, although "This Must Be Drum Street" lacks gravity. Its a shame because this is one of my fav DRIFT releases,

I agree that This Must Be Drum Street wasn't quite as effective live, but I really liked the feel of the bass in my chest with it! Having it straight after Two Months Off on the Saturday night was a strange choice as well I think, like it didn't really flow very well.
