Blatant Plug(s) but you might just like it

Been meaning to do this for a while, but I'm lazy and slow

My little brother's in a band. They've been getting favourable press in the NME (thus far) and had a recent stint supporting Gary motherfucking Numan. They do sort of 80's-electro-style-dance/rock/pop. or something. I dunno. Killers meets fucking Kylie Minogue. Anyway, give it a listen.

DAGGERS

2.

His flatmate also has a band. I actually like them better. Sort of ambient-nu-folk.

Tim and Sam's Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam

They've been on Huw Stephens' show on radio 1, and are playing at Latitude festival this summer. Unfortunately they're playing with Luke Leighfield, who is shit, and a bit of a tool. But nevermind.

Really like the Daggers stuff, I would buy stuff if a) I had money and b) new where to get it:)

May write a favourable plug for them for the site I write for next week. Same goes for Sam and Jack. Your helping my job a little bit easier with this good music!

If we're going for plugs, my friends band is good experimental guitar based fun. Guarded By Robots by there name. Go rock out in your living room with them:

Glad you like it. I know Tim and Sam have an homemade EP, or two, for sale - try emailing Tim through their Myspace.

Ah. checked the site. Join the Dots is on iTunes. Settlings Stones is available here or here

As for Daggers, not sure of the current situation. They had a single, "After Midnight" out on High Voltage, a small manchester label, under the name Bureau, then their last single, which was a double-A-side - Magazine/Money, I think - was out on Fierce Panda. Could try their sites if you're particularly interested.

Checked out the Daggers' Myspace tracks. Makes sense that they're supporting Gary Numan. The tunes take me back to an early 80's era where synth killed the guitar star. Vestiges of Erasure and Depeche Mode and Human League in there, but with up-to-date production. It's cheeky, but earnest at the same time. :)

Yeah. Long before they got the numan dates we used to refer to them as his big-gay-gary-numan-band.

It's basically a much poppier, brighter and more anthemic take on that slightly dark, dingey eighties electro thing that Numan did. It's not really my thing, but I think they do it very well.
