actually, that's a fantastic idea, release those tracks above with 2 or 3 live tracks from the LHN discs and bring back the quality EP's from the mid-90s. |

Not sure i get what you mean by "no way RRP material" - are they too finalized? Not experimental enough? Considering the 3 RRP's to date, they're pretty varied in terms of style (from techno to electro to ambient/chillout) and production (all high quality, though some tracks seem less finished than others). I guess, if not on a RRP, it'll be great to hear these in a studio form (we did get YDS in the last broadcast, as well as Bamboo, but only in streamed radio quality). I guess Karl said YDS is coming as a DL. Hmm, on second thought, it'd probably be more fun if the next RRP was totally new stuff. I still remember fondly listening to Lovely Broken Thing on release day with jaw dropped! |
Re: karl hyde on rob da bank
the only reason why it isnt RR material is because we've heard it and heard it and heard versions of it while riverruns practically ambushed us with sounds we didnt think would come out of them.
dunno if theyre physical release worthy tho. it all seems so disconnected. |

did no one else have to get familiar with the voice fx so that it didnt drive them up the damn wall? |
Re: karl hyde on rob da bank
Actually, when the first RiverRuns came out, it wasn't completely new. Between the live shows and radio shows, we'd already heard Peggy Sussed, Ancient Phat Farm Coat, Lenny Penne, Back in the Fears, and Dub Shepherd.
However, I agree, it would be nicer if it's all unheard or little heard material. They've already said ALAF and YDS would be digital downloads, and I think they meant digital bundles like Phonestrap rather than in a RiverRun. |
Re: karl hyde on rob da bank
Listened through the show. They played 020202 (New Mix) and Phonestrap 1.
Karl said they were taking some time off after Australia-ish to "finish up the new album." I know they've been mentioning a new album off-handishly recently. Maybe we'll get it middle-late next year? Also, Rob da Bank will be DJ'ing at Brixton on Sat. night. Karl took some questions at 48:50 and at 1:33:00. |

I think all of the above should get their own Complete Digital Download from UW, like phonestrap & 020202. Put all of the versions to date in there. Especially ALAF (SilverBoots?). I know it's been said that YDS & ALAF will be downloads before the year is over. I am jonesing hard for anything official ALAF/Silver Boots. Put out a river run with newer stuff or oddities Like Strumpet from Birghton last week or Tobee/Toobee (Can't remeber the spelling) Or some of those ambient tunes from the Artjam. And if a new album is in the works, keep it under wraps. Give us something new to look forward to if/when it finally happens, it will be new and fresh to all of us. |
Re: karl hyde on rob da bank
A RR would be sweet sometime in Autumn or Winter.. I only remember the waiting and waiting that went on for OWB and the RRs were perfect to keep me entertained in the cold dark winters ....
haha I can imagine and i dream that what will happen is the following.... ...they will release something like YDS or ALAF sometime soon as they said they would and may include something like what they were working on (or at least had played around the time of..) the S.American tour (acoustic stuff a little like phonestrap) or something like Strumpet (?? who knows really) all this as a bundle... then "before xmas" once they have finalised the album and worked out whats on it and whats not they may take the ideas that were left aside and work on a RR with that.... this way they will have completely fresh material for both the RR and the new album....keeping us on our toes and all that. I can imagine however that they are already aware of what the RR is going to be... and thus it could be true that we have already hear most of the tracks... but i would be happy with the sound of karl slamming a spoon off a table for all i care... id just love to have something brand spanking new! I gota stop with the looooooong posts! ha:D |
