Barefoot Cover Born Slippy
the info is out there.. http://www.whitenoisepromo.com/
Barefoot “It’s Like That / Hideaway” OneTwo Records Barefoot (Sam Obernik and Tommy D) release their eponymous debut album on October 17th. Here we have two highlights from the album including the unashamedly euphoric ‘It’s Like That’, a version so different from the original it defies categorization. Also the hauntingly elegiac ‘Hideaway’, a version so moving it nearly had Mike Pickering in tears when he first heard it. Other highlights include ‘Lazy’, which Sam explains set the precedent for the style of the whole album (“It was recorded at 3 in the morning after one too many”); and Underworld’s 'Born Slippy', to which Sam added additional verses and choruses, completely overhauling the original track. And let’s not forget Sam’s own 2002 Top 20 hit with Tim Deluxe, ‘It Just Won’t Do.’ |

Re: Barefoot Cover Born Slippy
Hooray, yet ANOTHER version of born slippy! Seriously there are too many. Born Slippy, NUXX and TELEMATIC sound nothing like each other. (Well, what i've heard of telematic anyway, which is about a minute.) Am I the only person finding that song to be ridiculously difficult to track down?
I know people will be in instant defence mode of the original nuxx, saying no-one could do it better than Underworld. That is true to a point. I don't think anyone could have pulled off a track with such subtle melodies coupled with such unsubtle drums, except for underworld. But in all fairness, it is NOT their best song. It is a great song, but I'm equally certain that a cover won't necessarily be worse than the original, because it wasn't perfect. Let's be honest here. Most UW fans would not list Born Slippy NUXX as their number one track. (I'd personally go for King of Snake, Cowgirl, Moaner, Kiteless, Tongue or Cups over BSN anyday.) I'd love to hear this cover. |

Re: Barefoot Cover Born Slippy
Just got my copy of the Barefoot album. The Born Slippy-cover sounds realy interesting. It's a real laidback cover which basicly only uses the lyrics of it. Realy nice to hear it in this completely different way.
Whole CD is very cool with covers of Crystal Water's Gypsy Woman, Run DMC's It's Like That and also containg a cool jazzy latino version of Sam Obernik's own It Just Won't Do. Recomended for a laidback chilled evening with a couple of beers http://www.dirty.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif |
Re: Barefoot Cover Born Slippy
i trust you got a promo...or is it the released copy...didn't think it was out until Feb 2006, now...???
