New Play Pig remix download
 

So this post is really about two remixes I've done. One is my first remix to be released on a real live single, "Cut to the Chase (Sean 'Granbrother' Mullen's Ascension Mix)". It's out as of today alongside remixes done by A Guy Called Gerald, Kevin Freeman and Circulation among others, so please check it out. There's a link to it on itunes through my MySpace page. And you can get more details on the release here.

And number two is another remix I just finished last month of an Underworld song, "Play Pig (Grandbrother's Thin Skin Mix)". I thought some folks here might enjoy it, so it's in my MySpace music player, waiting to be downloaded. There's artwork for it and everything!

The Play Pig remix is really good; very dreamy stuff. You have a good way of adding unusual sounds together into something addictive. I listened to your other songs on myspace and they all sound really good, definitely "headphone music" as you've quoted (with the unique sounds blending together). Congrats on the single man, keep up the good work.

Very cool, Grandbrother! Smooth and then the drums come crashing in. My only suggestion would be to give the main beat some tweaking...it sounds a bit phased (although this might just be the encoding for myspace... i know they don't let you upload too large a file.) Things get a bit busy at the end, but all in all, a nice mix!

Congrats on your other track getting the official treatment, too!

If it sounds phased in the player, then that's purely because of Myspace's compression and bitrate limitations. The drums are very clean in the full quality version of the mix. If you download it, it's a 128kbps mp3, so you might hear some limitations there, too. I'd be happy to upload a higher quality mp3 if someone can suggest a good, easy, free site to do it through.

I'd gladly let you upload it to my webspace, you would just need an FTP client, and I could send you the account login information. Let me know if you are interested. You could also use Megaupload or Rapidshare, those are two of the most popular sites for stuff like this.


Oh yeah, I also enjoyed this remix quite a bit!

Well I did this one because on the Play Pig single, the riverrun version of the track opens with all the vocals completely isolated. If I could get isolated vocals from other tracks of theirs, I would probably do remixes of them. Karl's voice is fantastic to work with.
