Spamathon 2008
:confused:What is going on with the spambots this spring?
First it seemed to be just "bound" getting hammered, but now they're hitting "process" and even "headset" (with the amusing links to "euro Club Hits" compilations!) Bless you to the mods for fighting the good fight and cleaning things up. But doesn't it seem we're getting a lot more spam than ever before? |

Yehiknow.
Doing the best I can with the mop and bucket. |
Re: Spamathon 2008
It's Leon's fault. He's been visiting Hardcore Spam sites through the Dirty servers. We tried an intervention, but he just doesn't want anyone's help. He's in deep.

Re: Spamathon 2008
For a serious answer, it's probably because when the forums were on Scott's server, the e-mail function was broken for a long time, so new user registrations wouldn't actually receive their confirmation e-mail, and so couldn't activate their new accounts. On Yan's server, the e-mails actually work.

Re: Spamathon 2008
I've seen boards where the posts of anyone with a post count smaller than 10 had to be approved by a mod.
--> spam problem solved. Also, whats up with the members list? More than 9000 members and 8200 of them never posted and are probably fake accounts that could be deleted. |
Re: Spamathon 2008
Yes, the user-list is full of people that had their "last activity" aka, last time they signed on in 2005 and 2006. If it was up to me I would do a huge clean-out, and i'm sure that is on Yan's agenda, it's probably just a lot of work setting up the rules to do it nicely.
