Underworld + ? = ?
what bands would you love to see some form of union for a song, or project.
here's my pick... - NIN ( NIN are on their own now...arent UW as well ? i personally think Trent would love to jam with Rick and Karl ). UW and NIN are the only 2 bands i would travel across oceans to see. |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Didn't Trent give good praise to the EE DVD and say it was pushing boundaries?
I'd love to see Radiohead do something Underworld, i think Thom and Karl could do something together. Though er...hearing that U2 collabaration would be nice that they did all those years ago. |

also, boards of canada. it would be a collision of two walls of sound. beautiful rubble. |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
sorry, this idea's a little stupid.
*looks around* i-i mean... it's just so thoughtless to different groups' process and how it's really difficult to mesh the two together and it's really just putting your favorite two people together and... um... M83. |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Fluke and Underworld.
|
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
so many possibilities :D the two obvious ones brian eno and robert fripp. and of course i'd love to hear an exchange of remixes between james holden and underworld. that would be just grand!
|
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Current Underworld and Underworld from 1996. That would be awesome.
|
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
a bjork/karl back in the fears duet would be grand.
and i'd love to see what rick and jack dangers could come up with. |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?

Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Hmm, re: the mooted U2-Underworld collaboration from way back (pre-Beaucoup, so around 1997 or 1998?)... it might be cool to hear what that was like, since in the mid-late 90's, U2 was one of the biggest rock acts incorporating electronic/dance sounds (Zooropa and Pop LP's), and Underworld comes from a rock sensibility, a la freur, UW mk i, Karl's session work. But now, i don't think i want to hear anything with u2. They're not cutting edge (no pun intended ) anymore and Bono has become too preachy to stand (remember the famed Bono=c*ck thread? Or are we sworn to silence on that? ;) ) The electro-rock torch was passed to Radiohead, anyway, and even they passed in on for the most partafter Amnesiac.
Now, i wouldn't mind hearing Michael Stipe's voice along with Karl's. Stream-o-consciousness times two. What won't Stipee contribute to, anyway? He's on sooo many records! A female vocal would be great, too...there was a lot of Juanita on AHDO, but all spoken. A really incredible voice (suggestions? Not Bjork, please!) might integrate really well with the ambient side of UW. |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Didn't Karl talk about at least doing shows with Nina Nastasia? Showcasing UW's ambient side with her sound blended in...

Re: Underworld + ? = ?
underworld + vini reilly = heavenly worlds colliding

Re: Underworld + ? = ?
underworld vs biosphere or an underworld remix of substrata would be out of this world how about a mix with sigur ros!? Maybe going places

Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Call me fuxx0rd as much as you like - I am too old to care :p
But I would love to hear an UW remix of Sheep by Pink Floyd from the Animals album. Bearing in mind the original dates from 1977, that track has all the potential of being a massive dance tune, imo, with the right work on it. In fact, I hereby throw down the gauntlet to anyone who feels like giving this some techno treatment. It would make my day! :D |

Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Call me old fashioned, but one thing I love about Underworld is how undiluted their sound is - which is why, as good as some moments are, the Breaking & Entering soundtrack is a bit dull in places for me. There's something about their songwriting, particularly the regular long synth washes that form large parts of their songs, that makes them so special. I've always seen them as the sort of band who are better not collaborating.
That said, I'll second whoever said Brian Eno. That might be lovely. Apollo-era Eno especially. |

and peronally i think that U/W are so good that no one else with them could improve on what we,ve got:cool: :D |

half of the tracks are pretty coma inducing on their own, and i don't think they need help with that! later -1 |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
MASSIVE ATTACK
with the voices of Horace Andy and Del Naja like female voices Shara Nelson (Unfinished simpaty - Blue Lines), Elizabeth Fraser from Mezzanine (also singer of Cocteau Twins), Tracey Thorne, and also Lou Rhodes from Lamb |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Underworld and Robin Guthrie, guitarist from cocteau twins might sound alright.
|
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Underworld and Darren Emerson ...
|
Re: Underworld + ? = ?

Anyways, Emerson didn't do much until STITI. |
Re: Underworld + ? = ?
Underworld and Sphongle could lead to an epic and bizarre 20 minutes long track. :D
