Hey, does anyone know what the track on Oblivion With Bells in iTunes is that's called "JAL to Tokyo"? Is that the same thing as the "Loads of Birds" on the Jap import?

Specifically, that track on iTunes is the live recording of JAL to Tokyo at the Tokyo Electraglide 2005 festival. The first track on the Live in Tokyo album.

Flywaver pointed you to Lovely Broken Thing, which was a 2005 download-only album/EP and included the original studio version of "JAL to Tokyo".

As we're discussing JAL To Tokyo... was there ever ANY way of getting the EP without doing the whole song and dance with Japanese iTunes cards? I'm mainly after the full Ancient Phat Farm coat version there... but didn't want to have to deal with all the hoops involved in buying from the Japanese iTunes...

Anyone know if it ever showed up elsewhere (or WOULD ever show up elsewhere)?

Hasn't shown up yet...

I just purchased it last week (via jumping through hoops)...Japanese iTunes cards are fairly easy to come by on ebay.

Not quite CD quality, but it's still great. I'm not sure if it's as long as on the EP but at 17:46 it should be pretty close.

JAL to Tokyo and the Paul Woolford remix were available on the JAL to Tokyo vinyl, as well as promo CD-R. Food a Ready was available on the Vexille soundtrack CD. The full, full version of Ancient Phat Farm Coat was only ever available on this iTunes exclusive EP.

However, there was a QuickTime movie slideshow of the band's South American tour from 2006 which was posted in the members section, which had APPC as the soundtrack, and if you were to rip it from that, you'd only be missing the last minute or two of the full song.
